Made a lot of progress over the weekend and am now waiting on a few final pieces before figuring out sizes and positions. Minky backing is going to be seriously tricky. Many places just flat out say that you should not attempt it, especially if you are a beginner. Oh well. I guess I never liked listening to advice when it is telling me not to do something I want to do.

Day 2 with QFP
Maybe it's obvious, but I just realized that in order to arrange it at all, I'm going to need to know the sizes of the various patches. I'm worried that I have more stuff to include than the space that I have, which is the size of the blanket P has chosen, 50x70. She was home today and between that and the cleaning lady, I haven't gotten much done on qfp. I have make progress in narrowing it down to a generally-horizontal orientation.
Day 1 with QFP (quilt for pearl)
I've missed creating stuff with my hands. This feels good.
Today I got a number of pieces stiffened with interfacing, sewed on Pearl's name with the laces from her first shoes, ordered Buffy patch, found Dr Who and Supernatural fabric and realized that I haven't yet figured out what do put for her vegetarianism.
Interfacing takes times and I've messed up a few pieces :(, including getting mom's Paris scarf with the writing appearing backwards.
Still haven't quite decided on the overall look and pattern. I think the spiral from the center will not work since many pieces have writing on them, which will look better horizontally. making exact horizontal or vertical lines would be a pain. I wonder if I can get away from multiple slightly skewed planes.
Oh yes, and I got Pearl to approve the teal throw I bought for her "blanket" for college.
Jeffri dropped off CMS team t-shirt, which is totally perfect since I had nothing of hers from middle school.
